Bio Salt

Salt
Do we require salt for our body?
Salt for just Taste?
We get minerals from the salt we consume. We need minerals, which are one of the building blocks of our body. Every cell requires them.
Minerals are essential for our body for three main reasons:-Building strong bones and teeth; Controlling body fluids inside and outside cells; Turning the food you eat into energy.
It has many other functions like to maintain pH balance, Hormonal balance,
electrolyte balance and many more..
But we require bioavailable minerals for our body, which we can obtain from naturally grown fruits, vegetables, and greens

Since we have depleted our soils, we started depending to get minerals from inorganic salts.
If we have proper gut microbes, then we can absorb these salts properly, but due to various reasons, our gut microbes are getting depleted, due to radiation, chlorinated water or eating a lot of processed, packaged, junk foods, and also eating a lot of cooked foods, stress, lack of sleep, etc.,
Many of the naturopaths advocate not to use salt, it’s advisable if you get the required minerals from the right source and bioavailable form.
Due to the above reasons, let’s see how to make use of the existing salt.
Sources of Inorganic Salt:

We are getting the salt from either sea’s or rocks.
If we can get the sea salt from cleaner sources, unrefined then we get some
minerals from it.
But we have polluted the seas, with a lot of chemicals and plastic, which comes back in salt.
The other source of salt we can obtain is Himalayan rock salt, which is better, purer, but again causes an imbalance in the earth, because we need to mine.but still it is inorganic.
The branded salts are bleached, chemically treated to refine, anti caking agents are added for free flow.

Iodised salt is added with extra iodine again which is synthetic.
And most of these branded salts are industrially manufactured and some are byproducts of other formulations and will not contain many other essential minerals we required except Sodium and Chlorine. We lack many trace minerals as well.
BioSalt or Fermented Salt:
Is there Life in your Salt?
The salt we consume, will not be absorbed easily as it is an inorganic compound. So fermenting salt brings life into it and makes it bio-available
Procedure:
Add 150 – 200 gms, of Himalayan Rock salt or unrefined sea salt in 1 liter
fermented rice starch or okra slime, till it reaches saturation and filter in a clean cotton cloth. Then let it sit for 7-10 days and use this solution instead of salt.
Usage:
You can add 2 spoons of this fermented salt liquid or Biosalt instead of 1 spoon of salt. Ideally, the salt to liquid ratio here is 1:5, so you may tend to add 5 ratios, but only 2 ratio is enough. The taste in your food gets enhanced.
You can add this biosalt wherever you require salt. In your cooking, salads, juices, etc.
But in cooking, add it in the end, according to your taste, to get the benefit of live microbes.
Benefits
- Helps in managing diabetes, Thyroid, Anemia, Arthritis, Blood Pressure, Neurological Problems, Muscular Problems, Hormonal imbalances, overcomes acidity and gastric problem, and bloating, etc.,
- Enhances the taste of the food, keeps the vegetable color vibrant and the texture tender.
- Helps to separate impurities.
- Reduces Salt consumption.
- Helps in making probiotics and pickles. Reduces Salt consumption.
Shelf Life:
Make fresh once in a week or once in a month, Though this biosalt can be stored in an airtight bottle at room temperature not under direct sunlight for even more than a year.
Do not refrigerate.
Chances of getting spoiled:
If not stored in an airtight container and kept in direct sunlight.
If the Liquid part is not filtered properly in a cloth.
Water to be used:
Use dechlorinated water. If you keep tap water under the Sun for a minimum of 3 hours, it gets dechlorinated.
Ref:- In the next post more on the Water.
For Fermented Rice /Millet Starch
Separate rice/millet starch while cooking in excess water in an open pot. Then when it is lukewarm add chili crowns or fenugreek seeds for fermentation and keep for a day.
Always whole grains are better than refined grains like white rice.
But whole grains need to be soaked for 6-8 hours.
Okra slime
Preferably use organic okra, or soak regular fresh okra in BE for 15 minutes and wash. After washing, slice around 250gms of okra vertically on the sides and place them in water in an airtight container till it immerses for 12 hours and filter and store this slime in an airtight bottle. Repeat the process for one more timekeeping for 6 hours. You can mix the slime into one bottle. Strain the okra slime in a clean cloth.
You can repeat two more times but keep checking the smell. Then discard okra and use the liquid.
Okra slime will not have shelf life more than a day, so use it immediately for
making pickles of biosalt.

July 17, 2020 at 7:38 amDon’t know whether it is a wise question. Well can we process the sea water something like this and use?
Shailender Sga
July 19, 2020 at 3:06 pmSea water has lot of chemicals and pollutants which we have added. Even if it’s from clear sea, it has hard, heavy minerals. We can breakdown by different culture, and make that water soft.
But for consumption dehydration of water can eliminate volatile compounds later we can use that to make bioavailable, its a bit combersome process, need to experiment.

July 17, 2020 at 9:58 amNever heard about it… I was thinking that Himalayan Rock salt is organic.
Thanks for sharing this, I will try and update my feedback later.
Thanks Senthil

July 21, 2020 at 10:10 amDear Sir, Thanks for the valuable information. I have a doubt. Today most of the salt available in the market is Iodised salt. even sea salt also now comes with iodine. Using Himalayan rock salt also on the other hand we are destroying the nature which takes Ages to form. whether using the normal salt available in the market when we follow above mentioned procedure will reduce the harmful effects of iodine. please kindly advise sir.

July 21, 2020 at 2:11 pmPlz read the post properly, that’s what I mentioned salt is impure and other salts are iodised and Himalayan salt is harmful for ecosystem if you mine, so only I asked to take unrefined sea salt. Don’t prefer iodised salt.
